Databricks, engineered for the long run.

Key2 is a Databricks consulting partner. We design lakehouses, build the pipelines that feed them and set up the governance that lets many teams share one platform safely.

What Databricks is.

See detail 1/A-101 Pipelines

Databricks is a data and AI platform built on the lakehouse: open-format storage with the reliability of a warehouse, and one engine for data engineering, SQL analytics, data science and machine learning. On Microsoft’s cloud it runs as Azure Databricks.

Teams choose it when data volume, variety or the need for machine learning outgrow a traditional warehouse, and when they want engineers, analysts and data scientists working on the same data rather than on copies of it.

Why choose it.

  • Unified

Batch and streaming, SQL and Python, BI and machine learning on one platform and one copy of the data.

  • Scalable

Compute scales out for heavy jobs and back down when they finish. We have run Databricks for healthcare data management at very large scale.

  • Collaborative

Shared notebooks, jobs and one catalog, with fine-grained controls such as attribute-based access policies, so many teams can work on one platform safely.

What we build on Databricks.

  • Lakehouse architecture

Bronze, silver and gold layers with clear contracts between them, so raw data, cleaned data and business-ready data each have an owner.

  • Pipelines

Ingestion and transformation jobs that are tested, monitored and recoverable, for batch and streaming sources alike.

  • Governance

A catalog, access policies and lineage that satisfy auditors without slowing analysts down.

  • Migration

Moves from legacy warehouses and on-premises systems, planned so that reports keep working while the change happens.

Two examples of the work.

  • Healthcare

EHR modernization for an enterprise health system

We modernized electronic health record (EHR) data on Databricks for an enterprise health system. Work of this kind moves clinical data into governed lakehouse layers, with access rules strict enough for patient information.

  • Public sector

Data integration and spatial mapping for a large government agency

We integrated data sources and built spatial mapping on Databricks for a large government agency, so operational records can be read on a map as well as in a table.
